Atkinson spa owner receives additional fine for medical claims

The owner of a controversial "Diaper Spa" in Atkinson has been fined an additional $2,500.

The New Hampshire Board of Mental Health Practice ordered Colleen Murphy, the owner, to stop advertising the spa as a medical center because it is not licensed to practice medicine in the state.

Officials said Murphy is only licensed in Maine and New York.

Murphy's website advertised services such as dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, counseling, coaching and telehealth.

The board had previously issued a cease-and-desist order in April, along with a $10,000 fine.
