Bottega Veneta Pre

Nov 23, 2023

From woven leather socks that doubled as shoes to jelly heels, Bottega Veneta‘s Winter 2023 showcase was a masterclass in "ugly" footwear. But Matthieu Blazy doesn't want to wait that long, and has subsequently started dropping pairs that question the status quo for Pre-Fall 2023, notably the caged boot that you can see above.

The caged boot is not designed to go over a shoe, but to be worn as one instead. Paired with a set of Bottega Veneta's thick woolen socks, and you’ll be all set for the colder months ahead. But as it's summer, you can get your hands on the divisive shoes now.

As of writing, the only pair available is in black. The luxury House has made the caged boot entirely from sturdy rubber, using a laser-cutting process to create a bizarre, haphazard cut-out structure that laces up at the top. Beneath, you’ll find a full rubber sole unit, it too featuring detailing — only now, it's webbed, emulating the cut-outs.

Bottega Veneta's caged boot retails for $650 USD and can be bought from retailers such as H.LORENZO now. Other colorways, such as white or tan, will drop on Bottega Veneta's own site imminently.
