Since 2017, the JLC Diaper Bank has provided diapers to nearly 20,000 children in need.
The Junior League of Charleston Diaper Bank recently announced reaching the milestone of 1,000,000 diapers distributed to those experiencing diaper need.
The Diaper Bank marked the occasion with a celebration on Nov. 9 in the parking lot of The Junior League Office (51 Folly Road).
Since the inception of the JLC Diaper Bank in 2017, the Diaper Bank has distributed diapers to 15 community partners and has helped nearly 20,000 children experiencing diaper need. Initially created to fill the gap of this overlooked need in the community, The Junior League of Charleston Diaper Bank collects both diapers and monetary donations to help serve the youngest in need throughout the Lowcountry.
For countless families, having enough diapers is a constant struggle. Without diapers, children cannot attend daycare, which may prevent parents from making an income. Diapers are not funded by WIC and SNAP programs, and without this financial assistance, babies are left in their diapers longer, leading to severe diaper rash that could lead to other medical problems. The JLC Diaper Bank works with community partners to distribute diapers to those experiencing diaper need in our community.
